The Pros of Living in Israel
People who learn Hebrew online often do so because they want to live in Israel. Whether your reasons for wanting to live in Israel are personal, religious, or professional in nature, you’ll find that there are several benefits of living here.
Below, we take a closer look at some of the pros of living in Israel:
1. The Weather
Israel’s weather is often one of the biggest draws for people interested in living here, particularly those who hail from colder climates.
The weather in Israel is very much Mediterranean in nature, with plenty of sunshine and generally warm temperatures.
Winters can get quite cold here, with some areas even receiving rainfall. But as a whole, the country’s weather doesn’t get too extreme for comfort.
2. The Healthcare
Israel is a proponent of universal healthcare, which is why medical insurance is compulsory, and every resident is granted access to healthcare.
Just last year, Israel’s healthcare system was ranked as the 3rd most efficient healthcare system in the world.
Because it’s illegal for the four official healthcare insurance providers to deny membership to any Israeli, all citizens are insured. Many Israelis opt for additional coverage through private health insurance. Professionals that are here on a work visa are provided private insurance through their employers.
3. The Economy
Backed by its dominance in the technology and manufacturing sectors, the Israeli economy is robust and thriving.
Israel has a strong startup culture that attracts talent from within the country and abroad.

4. The Welfare Schemes
Israel provides several social welfare schemes to look after its citizens.
These include:
- Old-age pensions (which are increased once a pensioner reaches the age of 80);
- Disability pensions (available to all persons who’ve been fired, as long as they meet the eligibility requirements);
- Income support benefits (payable to people who are only offered a low-wage job, people who cannot work at all, orphans, and disability pension claimants).
