I am so very impressed … with the teaching, the materials, the approach, and the activities at Ulpan Or — Finally, I have found a learning experience that I have been hungry for in my studies. Howard Robinson. USA. September 2013

Superb program.I have studied many languages and am familiar with teaching methods that do not understand how we learn and that do not have focused materials that are integrated as a whole into the course. I am so very impressed, however, with the teaching, the materials, the approach, and the activities at Ulpan Or — Finally, I have found a learning experience that I have been hungry for in my studies. I am only sorry that I cannot continue an intensive ulpan experience with Ulpan Or for a longer period of time, but I will continue by long-distance during my remaining three months in Israel, and hopefully, again after I return to the United States.I think the learning strategies are brilliant and appreciate how they are integrated into the activities. The half-hour with teacher and half-hour study and the use of diverse learning methods (book, video, TV snippets, songs) create a continuously engaging learning experience. I bought the book of songs because of my own interest in Israeli music and the history of Israeli music — but was very happy, as well, to find that it’s a terrific way to learn vocabulary and modern expressions.Above all, the teachers and staff in Tel Aviv are great and I always felt comfortable being a student with them. Their patience and training in how to teach (for example, not just giving an answer, but helping me to find an approach to an answer, i.e., reflecting on a verb pattern or discussing the root, etc.) demonstrates the focus on the student and the student’s learning. I know from the way teachers and staff conduct thmeselves that everyone is there for the student’s needs and always focused on creating learning within the whole environment both inside and outside of the office.I cannot say how important it has been to me to also use the history, architecture, music, art etc related to the city, the history of the city, and the history of Zionism in the learning process. How engaging, also, to have a teacher say, “This is my city, and this is why I love to teach about it.” Kol Ha Kavod!!
